Hello hello!
Teej/Edible Penguin here,
opening up a OOC thread for my Whodunnit inspired roleplay, "Purse those lips, boy."
Before I explain anything else, I would like to explain the name. I chose that name, because well, I like to be original. I could've done something more basic I know, but the way I prefer to do things is by showing my thought process or what I have going on in my mind at a given time through the name of my topics. For some reason, this was the name that came to mind. It doesn't necessarily fit, but I fell in love with the name as I was writing my initial post. So there you have it. I introduce you to... Purse those lips, boy.
Now as I have mentioned, this is a Whodunnit inspired roleplay. If you don't know what that is, go to your choice search engine and have at it. It's my current obsession, and combining it with my love of roleplay, I wanted to do something different. As we all know, the world of Harry Potter and the wizards that came before/after him focuses on magic and it's importance. We all know that Hogwarts is well-protected with numerous spells and the likes, but one thing that has not been touched on is the protection from those inside. Sure, it's protected from outside forces, but as we saw with Chamber of Secrets there is no protection (or no good protection) from internal forces. That aided my idea, I have to admit.
What I am going for here, is that a student (or professor?) is killing students by 'muggle means'. Whether that be knives, guns, arrows... Even unconventional items like a plank of wood, a statue. Basically nothing is exempt from use. As far as the cast goes, those that sign up are the cast. The one thing, that I haven't revealed to those I have talked to about the topic yet, is that I will be selecting one of you via a private message to be the killer. Surprise! This is, of course, only if we have enough people sign up. This will be kept private, obviously so as to keep the mystery of it going. Our job will be to discover who the killer is and put an end to it. Tons of suspense. Obviously I cannot be the killer as I will be doing the selection, so I will play a very basic role, much like the butler Giles of Whodunnit. I won't be trying to find out who the killer is as much as trying to avoid them, like all of you. I'll be the mysterious onlooker basically.
As goes with Whodunnit, everyone will work as a team, or possibly even break off into 'clicks', to discover how the victim of given week dies. Their death will be elaborate, with many parts to it other than just the weapon of choice. Once you think you have the death figured out, you will submit your theory of the crime to myself via private message. The most accurate will be 'spared', while the two (or three, or four...) that are the closest to getting it wrong will be 'scared'. I will then private message the one person who is least accurate and inform them that they have been killed. Once you have been killed, you will have to write a post describing your last moments. Be careful not to give too much away, never giving away the weapon or any other key details. Keep it basic. Once you have been killed, you are no longer a part of the roleplay. Obviously it is there for you to read, and I don't mind that, but I wanted to make it feel the most like death of a character as humanly possible.
I realize that this may not be a popular choice of roleplay style, but I feel passionately about this and wanted to give it a try. I do hope that it peaks the interest of some of you, and that we can make something of this. It's not everyday that a topic like this is born, and while I know there are both positives and negatives to this, I honestly feel that it is a unique experience for all. I do hope it peaks some interest.
Sincerely dead,
Teej the Edible Penguin
